This legislation, which took effect January 1, 2007, provides consumers with tax credits for making their homes more energy efficient.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE ENERGY TAX INCENTIVES ACT

The Energy Tax Incentives Act:

Provides a consumer tax credit up to $500 for 10% of the cost of qualified remodeling projects that improve the energy efficiency of an existing home—including replacement windows.
Allows $200 of the $500 total credit to be attributed to replacement windows.
Applies to improvements made after December 31, 2005.
